The Sierra Club is proving volunteer travel doesn't have to be a major expense or time commitment.

The environmental organization already has dozens of trips planned for 2013, including a five day winter break in Florida's Ocala National Forest. The Ocala National Forest is home to the world's largest sand pine scrub ecosystem featuring hiking trails and camping sites, including the Florida National Scenic Trail.

Participants will work four full days with one day off to enjoy the park or take a day trip. Service projects include wildlife habitat restoration, rare plant monitoring, alien plant removal, pond surveys, and tree planting.

Volunteers will stay in a shady campsite, complete with a bath house, and share in share in the daily cooking and cleaning duties.

But, the best part of the trip might just be the price. The five-day excursion, taking place Mar 17–23, 2013 is only $435 per person (not including transportation to the site).
