Awesomesauce: Virgin America Debuts Their Very First 'Loft' Lounge at LAX

Are you ready for this jelly? Virgin America has just used the opportunity of today's notable 12-12-12 date to debut their very first airline lounge. It's called The Loft and you'll find it snuggled up airside in Terminal 3 at LAX near the Virgin America gates.

The lounge, in all its mood-lit glory, replicated much of what makes the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses so desirable—namely the slick design (and designer furniture) and complimentary meal and drinks service. Instead of a grab-and-go snack bar like you'd find in many US domestic lounges, Virgin America offers a menu with options like smoked salmon bagels, sushi, soba, and shrimp caesar salad.

And, instead of a cash bar with well drinks, the Loft offers six specialty cocktails (drooling over the "Runway Ruddy Mary"), top shelf liquors, red, white and sparkling wines, domestic and imported beers on tap and in bottles, and even juice mixes if you've already had one Ruddy Mary too many.

So, what'll it feel like? Apparently like being on a Virgin America flight, just without the cramped quarters, according to their press release:

The Virgin America Loft extends the airline’s signature cabin experience into the airport space with amenities like a cocktail bar and dining experience with a Virgin twist – including a “Lofty Libations” artisanal cocktail selection. As the only airline to offer both power outlets near every seat and in-flight WiFi on every aircraft, the Virgin America Loft is equipped with ample power sources and complimentary WiFi.

How to get into the Loft:

· Be Virgin America Elevate Silver or Gold (you'll get a number of lounge passes every year, no matter what class you fly)
OR
· Purchase a day pass for $40 if you're flying Virgin America in any class, or one of their partner airlines in any class.
OR
· Win your way in. Right now on social media, Virgin America is giving away Loft passes during a "12 days of #VXLoft Passes" contest. Follow @VirginAmerica on Twitter for more details on that.

Aside from the fact that only LAX has a Virgin America Loft right now, the only other downer is that travelers who've purchased First Class still need to buy the $40 pass to the Loft. It'll be interesting to see how busy (or not busy) the Loft gets before flights, using this strict admission policy.
