Today marks the 50th anniversary of cinema's most famous spy, James Bond. To celebrate, special events have been planned all over the world.

L.A.'s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is celebrating James Bond Day by paying homage to the memorable title songs and scores that shaped all 23 movies. The Music of Bond: The First Fifty Years begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, 8949 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills. General admission tickets are $5.

In London, Christie’s South Kensington is holding a live charity auction of Bond memorabilia, including a pre-production replica of a BMW Z8 used by Pierce Brosnan in The World is Not Enough, this afternoon. The live auction is invite-only but anyone can view the items in their showroom until the auction begins. Can't make it to London? You can place a bid online too.

And, in NYC, MOMA is hosting a special film exhibition, 50 Years of James Bond, all month. Tonight they are screening the film that started it all, Dr. No. For ticket info, visit Moma.org.

Or, if you prefer to celebrate quietly at home with a simple shaken martini, don't forget to put on some mood music.
