Icelandair, Alaska Airlines and Dragonair Fly Out Some New Routes

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Alaska Airlines:
We might have mentioned this one in the past, but now it’s time to finally start flying. Alaska Airlines is now ready to start the newest nonstop flights between San Diego and Orlando. We’re not sure if the “salmon-thirty-salmon” will be an option between the two cities, but we do know that flights will run back and forth on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The timings of the flights mean red-eyes over to the east coast, and 8am departures back to California. To celebrate the new city pair they’re even offering up double frequent flyer miles between the two cities, but just ensure that you register for the promotion before booking and flying.

· Copa Airlines:
If you’re looking to head somewhere warm and sunny just check out the latest option available from Copa Airlines. They are increasing the number of flights available between their hub over in Panama and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

The flights over to Jamaica will start running four times per week beginning around December 17, and it sounds like the flights will do their thing on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It’ll be Boeing 737s completing all the flying fun between the two cities—and two countries—just so you know.

· Icelandair:
This week Icelandair started up some new flights back and forth between Iceland and the United Kingdom. The carrier just began to fly nonstop between London-Gatwick and Reykjavik. The flights will run just twice per week on Thursdays and Sundays, but early next year the plan is to increase things to a thrice-weekly kind of option.

It sounds like officials at Icelandair definitely had long weekend trips in mind, as they even commented that the flights have been timed to help squeeze out those last few previous minutes of weekend time. We might be a little far away to take advantage of the new flights this weekend, but the next time we find ourselves in London—might just have to take Icelandair up on these flights.

· Dragonair:
It’s one big family over at Cathay Pacific, and now it’s time for one of its sister carriers to head out on a new route. Dragonair is filling up the tanks and the beverage cart, as they’re planning to start flights over to Yangon in Myanmar.

These flights will run back and forth between there and Hong Kong, and the flights are timed to allow connections for flyers arriving from the nifty fifty via spots like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. As long as the government seals and stamps are obtained in time it sounds like things will start flying on January 9 with Airbus A321s doing their thing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

· KLM:
It’s time for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to move around some planes and people, as they just announced that they’re getting ready to head over to Japan. KLM will connect Amsterdam with Fukuoka starting on April 3 of next year, and they’re even the first airline in Europe to offer up a nonstop over to Fukuoka. Boeing 777s will do the heavy lifting on this new route, and it’ll end up doing its thing three times per week.
