An Airplane with Tribal Tattoos: Air Pacific Unveils New Look as Fiji Airways
Back in August, we touched on the news that Air Pacific is getting back to their roots and rebranding the airline to Fiji Airways. After the change of ownership, the national identity will shine through on the new carrier a fact just proved by this week's sneak peak into what the planes and cabins will look like when the entire changeover is complete later in 2013.
Starting with the planes doing the heavy lifting, the airline has taken the traditional Fijian imagery across the entire fleet. Designed to be a 'Flying Ambassador' for the island nation, the Fiji influence plays a prominent role. Three "Masi," or native design motifs, will be a feature of the livery, designed to represent the welcoming nature of Fiji.
For those on the ground, a bold FIJI logo on the belly of the plane plus the tribal wrap around the engines will make plane-spotting a whole lot easier.
Inside the aircrafts, the goal is to make passengers feel as though they've already begun their Fiji vacation. Each seat in the new Airbus A330s will have upgraded entertainment options to pass the hours until you step foot on the island, plus in-seat power for charging devices. If you're lucky enough to be flying business class, you'll arrive in paradise refreshed and ready for more relaxation, thanks to the new comfy, angled bed. Although not fully lie-flat, we don't think you will have a problem getting some shut-eye on these long-haul flights.
These new planes will be hauling passengers ready to wiggle their toes in the sand from LA and Honolulu, but also flying Hong Kong and Australia. All the new paint jobs will be spied taxiing around these airports early next year and will become a common sight as the airline takes delivery of more wide-bodies throughout 2013.
