· Air Canada:
They heard that WestJet might be trying to invade their turf, so Air Canada is ready to fight back—and they’re announcing some new routes. The plan is to start three nonstop flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and New York-JFK beginning on May 3. They’re also planning to boost flights between LaGuardia and YYZ to, like, hourly. In total, Air Canada is pretty proud that they’re the only carrier from Canada that flies to and from all three of the greater New York City airports, and with the increase in service, it means 38 daily flights between NYC and spots all over Canada.
· Mokulele Airlines :
Remember when we thought that a Hawaii-based airline was going to fly to spots like Illinois and London? Well, it seems as if it’s going to happen as Mokulele Airlines has received approval to fly to and from Rockford, Illinois—not too far from Chicago. All the details haven’t been decided just yet, but the plan is to start flying between Rockford and Honolulu as soon as April. After that, the Rockford to London flights will start up in May. The plan is to utilize some help from Charter World Solutions to operate the charter flights, but they will be branded as part of Mokulele Tours. We’re eager to see what kind of deals they’ll be offering, and if they’ll be able to make some cash to keep the flights around.

Speaking of Hawaii, there’s another pretty big airline in Hawaii—Hawaiian Airlines—and they’re looking to continue their expansion over to Asia. The carrier already flies between Honolulu and Seoul pretty darn often, but they’re now looking to boost the flights between the city pair even more. Beginning in July the flights will run on a daily basis, and the long trip across the Pacific will be completed thanks to some of Hawaiian Airlines’ Boeing 767s. Honolulu would definitely be a nice layover—or stopover on the way home—so it might just be time to get creative with your summer vacation routing.
