Qantas is already trying to trademark the new name and to get all the stamps and approvals to use it, but they might face a little bit of trouble. Part of the Virgin Group has the rights to Red Jet—for charity pursuits—so who knows if they’ll be cool with Qantas using red in their new name. In addition to RedQ, Qantas is also attempting to call first dibs on similar names like RedQ Executive Express, RedSky, and OneAsia. We’re not sure we’re totally in love with any of them, but RedSky sounds like the worst—reminds us of some kind of communist in-flight emergency made-for-TV movie.
As for the airline, things are still kind of on the drawing table, but it’s a solid sign that they’re already picking out names. No colors—bedsides red obviously—or livery just yet, but you know we’ll be all over it once it’s release (or leaked)!
