For the first of our two international legsSan Francisco to Tokyo-Narita, an 11.5-hour flightwe went all out. The shrimp brochettes, the filet mignon and chocolate ice cream all ended up in our belly. We'll let the photos do most of the talking, but we do have two little explanations for our choices:
· We're fascinated by compound butter. Ever since we peeked into the kitchen during a Singapore Airlines menu session, we've kept our eyes open for the stuff on menus.
· As much as we love cheese plates, the fact that we can eat ice cream on an airplane is too cool to pass up. Always opt for the ice cream.
Final word on the food? It was good. Edible. We've had better.
Note: The menu's fine print says that this same selection will be found on flights this season to Narita from IAD, LAX, ORD and SEA in addition to SFO.
