Guzzling Some Avion Tequila During Delta SkyClub's Thursday Happy Hours

To celebrate the arrival of Avión Tequila at Delta SkyClub airport lounges, Delta and Avión have been hosting happy hour shindigs from 5pm to 7pm on Thursdays. We just happened to be in the neighborhood last week, and we’re already looking forward to another layover filled with agave spirits.

While killing some time in Atlanta we made our way to the SkyClub in the center of Concourse A near the Chili’s—after stopping at Chick-fil-A obviously. We got there a little early and warmed up with a glass of Sweetwater Pale Ale and waited for 5pm to arrive.

We weren’t the only ones lingering, as there were plenty of business people pacing back and forth waiting for the show to begin. Once things opened up to the masses there were three options—silver, reposado, and añejo—along with a couple different mixers and juices. Everything was prepared by an Avión bartender—not SkyClub staff—so the tequila was definitely being poured with a heavy hand.

We bypassed the usual options and went for one of two signature cocktails, and we hope “The Winds of Jalisco” sticks around way past happy hour because it was pretty damn tasty. It was the right balance of sweet, sour, and refreshing with the ability to go down easy.

The other option was “Avion Nation,” but we decided to save that one for next time, as we didn’t want to be those people that hog the line and order one of everything. We’ve included the recipes for both below, so you can make your own at home or onboard your next flight. Just remember that these are to be shaken not stirred.

It sounds like the happy hour will continue throughout the summer, so if you find yourself near a SkyClub on a Thursday evening it’s definitely worth swinging through. Just be sure that your preferred SkyClub is on the list, as the fun is only going down at certain clubs in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, and Miami.
