· The Great New York State Fair:
The Empire State’s biggest fair of the year is a little far for those residing in the New York City area, but we’re sure there’s a bus or two that can easily get you up to Syracuse to join in on all the state fair festivities. According to organizers the fair has always showcased the products and produce of the state, so expect plenty of agriculture to round out your fair experience. Things run today through Labor Day in Syracuse, and tickets will set you back $10—but the little ones under 10 are free every day.
Livestock and other critters are on display each day of the fair, and there are even 4-H dog shows for those who prefer pets to poultry. There’s obviously plenty of concessions and other exhibits to check out, and it’s all there to make you feel warm and fuzzy about how great New York is. They’ve got live entertainment too hitting the State Fair Grandstand, but it’s going to cost you a little bit extra in addition to your admission. Check the full schedule here, but highlights include Ne-Yo and Cee Lo Green, Lady Antebellum, Three Doors Down, and Selena Gomez.
· Oregon State Fair:
Only one day left until the gates open up to the Oregon State Fair, and then it’s all food, fun, and families through September 5. It all takes place this year in Salem, Oregon, and getting in on all the action will cost you $7 for the big kids and $3 for the little kids, but hardcore fair fanatics can get a pass for the whole darn fair for just $50.
Expect awesome food—Oregon has quite the reputation—as well as plenty of exhibits and attractions showing off all the goodies available from the Beaver State. In total there’s about 75 different vendors cooking up fried delicacies, and there’s also a few spots for the adults to walk around with a glass of Oregon’s finest wines or brews. There’s plenty of traditional fair favorites when it comes to rides, but we kind of want to take a spin in the Bi-Mart Advantage Ride Monster Truck. Free entertainment rounds out the fun, but Cheap Trick, The Band Perry, and The Judds will all be in attendance too for some extra cash.
