Disney's 'D23 Expo' Dishes the Dirt on New Rides, Attractions, and More

You might not be hardcore Disney enough to have attended this year’s D23 Expo, but we’re sure that you are probably interested about what it means for the theme parks. The ultimate disney fan event—their words, not ours—took place last weekend, and it produced some pretty decent news on the update front.

Down in Florida at Walt Disney World, upgrades are still on schedule for the Magic Kingdom. Over in Fantasyland, theme park officials are working on a new Beauty and the Beast section that will focus on meeting and greeting some of your favorite characters from the film. If you’ve outgrown character autographs—we understand—just make your way over to Ariel's Undersea Adventure, an attraction copying the blueprints from a similar ride out in California.

That stuff sounds fine and dandy, but we’re most looking forward to the Seven Dwarves Mine Coaster. It takes the traditional dark ride and brings it to the next level with the addition of a little excitement; however, they aren’t getting too crazy so you and the kiddos can all ride together without fear. Just be sure to hold on!

On the left side of the country, Disney’s California Adventure is still hard at work improving its offerings. WIth some updates already open to the public, the attention turns to creating "Cars Land," which is still on schedule for an opening date next summer. The highlight will be Radiator Springs Racers which plans to whisk passengers through scenes of the movie and more in their own cartoon car. It’s not a roller coaster, but it will surely evoke just as many thrills and screams if it lives up to its billing.

Some of this stuff had already been publicly discussed, but new news and new pictures are always welcome. It sounds like things are still all on track, so you might want to postpone that DIsney vacation—either Florida or California—so that you can hit up the new stuff before all the other tourists get their mouse ears all over it.
