Around the seat, storage space was ample with three different small bins for shoes, a sweater/other accessories, and my entire carry-on even fit into one, thus keeping everything within arm's reach.
As for in-flight entertainment, the video system was excellent with a quality remote (no leaning way forward for a touchscreen). USB and standard 110v power plugs were present, along with a video in to project iPod content up onto the screen.
Okay, so now the two most important things: the Seat and the Service.
The seat: First Class seats are made of a nice cool, grey fabric that was one of the most inviting I’ve seen. I sunk in right away as even when fully upright the seat is quite reclined. The bed conversion buttons are located in multiple spots (genius!), so when lying on one side, you can reach a button to adjust your comfort.
Can't forget to mention that the bed was 6'6", perfect, and the armrests drop down to allow for more elbow room. I’m a stomach sleeper so this made a huge difference. Two pillows and a thin duvet style blanket were included. All in all, one of the most comfortable seats in the sky that I’ve tried.
The service: I opted to be a difficult passenger by requesting a meal later in the flight than is usually served. The flight attendants easily accommodated this request and with two dedicated to the eight of us in First Class, they were pleasant, helpful and added to my positive impression of the experience. As for the food, it was obvious that much thought had been put into it. The quality showed and my dinner, the chicken, even had a spicy bite to it, something which is rare in the “make everyone happy” world of airline food.
Bottom line: I was skeptical about United and being the plane snob I am, I really made an effort to be picky. Try as I did, this flight, service and seat exceeded my expectations and it's always a good sign when I don't want the flight to end. Kudos to United for implementing what I believe is one of the best products in the sky for EU to US at the moment, though I still haven't flown all airlines in First Class. I'm working on it, though!
