A $17 Value Meal and 'Sennep Sauce' at a Norwegian McDonalds

It's a beautiful day in Norway's second-largest city of Bergen, and a stroll down cobblestone lanes seems like a great idea. There's the fish market, and street vendors selling reindeer pelts and long, knit winter hats. And then—making itself at home in a historic building on a corner—you're faced with the dreaded Golden Arches.

Yep, McDonalds has invaded the fresh northern air with its smell of french fries and...hot wings? As usual with foreign McD's, the menu varies:

What is 'Sennep' sauce?

Important questions: why can't America enjoy curry sauce at McDonalds? What is 'Sennep' sauce? Our guess is honey mustard. And how tasty can McDonalds hot wings be? Also shocking is the price of what in the USA are called "value" meals. Below, there is a poster for their latest meal deal: a "1955 Burger" with fries and a drink for 95 NOK. That, plugged into Google to convert to USD, is $17. Hmm...now we understand why everyone says Scandinavia is quite pricey.

Disclosure: We traveled to Norway as a guest of Cunard, but all photos and opinions presented are completely our own.

McDonalds

Do they have to put a golden arch in every window? makes the place look tacky!

also

It also looks odd that they've only cleaned the spot on the building where the McDonalds name goes, above the main doors.
