Transformers: Dark of the Moon isn't just box office gold, it's also a perfect travel guide through Chicago. The movie's cast and crew spent most of last summer in the city, filming over (and under) some of it's greatest landmarks. Here's a look at where to stay and what to do in Chicago, Transformers 3 style.

Where To Stay:

Hotel 71, located at 71 East Wacker Drive, acts as a home base for the bad guys in the movie. Hotel 71's star role in a summer blockbuster may have inspired them to spruce the place up. They recently completed a $15 million renovation and are ready to show it off with rates starting at $179.

Where To Eat:

As Shai LaBeouf and Patrick Dempsey fight their way through the streets of The Windy City, wide shots pass over Chicago landmarks like the Trump Tower, the Wrigley Building and Elephant and Castle Pub on North Wabash. This particular location is just around the corner from Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue. The restaurant serves typical pub grub along with daily specials like Guinness Stew or Roast Chicken for $13.

What To Do:

Chicago's Navy Pier takes a beating in Transformers 3 but in reality the entertainment complex is at the top of its game. Through September 5th the Navy Pier is playing host to Extreme Cirque Shanghai(adult tickets start at $17.50), the whodunit Murder For Two is playing through July 31st, and the Landshark Beer Garden has live music every Wednesday-Sunday for the rest of the summer. For more information about any of these events, check out NavyPier.com.
