Get Cooking with Peppy Jamie Oliver at London's Big Feastival

The Big Chill, Lovebox, Bestival, Field Day: there's no shortage of festivals in the U.K. this summer, most of which are music-centric and attract hordes of dirty campers eager to slosh around in their Wellies à la Kate Moss. Creeping up in number and quality are food festivals, whose focus is on celebrating the best of regional cuisine and proving that there's much more to British cooking than the country's middling reputation suggests.

The oh-so cleverly named Big Feastival is one such event, set to be held on South London's Clapham Common on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Perrenially buzzy celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is the face behind Festival, unique in that it fuses food, music, and a bit of fashion for three days of sonically-peppered gourmet goodness.

Headlining the music side of things are nouveau disco act Hercules and Love Affair, along with New Young Pony Club, the Charlatans, Athlete, Roots Manuva, and more.

But it's the food that features over the three-day affair, with restaurants including Canteen, Locanda Locatelli and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen serving up samples of their signature dishes, while elsewhere on site you can take in chef demonstrations from the likes of Oliver and his cohorts.

The Big Feastival is also one of the more reasonably priced events on the festival circuit: you can purchase a day pass for as little as £35, opt for a £175 per day for a family pass or VIP entry if you so choose. Purchase tickets by clicking here. Make sure you arrive with an empty stomach and well prepared for a dose of Oliver's scarily peppy culinary enthusiasm.
