Hertz Adds More Electric Excitement with the Tesla Roadster

Hertz is trying to appeal to more than just business travelers, as they’re bringing a new animated mascot to television and print advertisements in the hope that a little yellow cartoon guy—Horatio is his name—can bring them a little more cash. Oh, and if the voice of this new character sounds familiar, that’s because Owen Wilson is the star behind it.

What’s a little more interesting than the new Hertz spokesperson is one of the new cars that Hertz is now offering. Not too long ago we shared some of their cars that are actually worth renting and now, if you have some extra dough, this week brings another stunner into the rental car fleet: the Tesla.

The rental car company is planning to offer up Tesla electric cars beginning this month. Hertz is adding the Tesla Roadsters into their Hertz Global EV fleet, but expect to pay quite a premium for the pleasure of getting behind the wheel. Not only are these cars pretty pricey, but they’re also pretty fast. The vehicles are definitely sports cars first, and electric second. These are hardly going to be available at every airport across the country, so we’re thinking that you’ll need to know someone to get access to one.

As with all electric cars, just make sure that you don’t stray too far from home. With around 288 horsepower you might be tempted to race around the country, but remember that you can only go around 245 miles before needing a recharge.
