Ryanair to Finally Assign Some Seats, But It'll Cost Ya

Everyone knows that Ryanair loves fees of all shapes, sizes, and costs, and they’re about to test out a brand new one on the traveling public. However, this one doesn’t seem as bad to us, as you’re actually getting something somewhat worthwhile.

The low cost carrier has decided to start assigning seats on a trial basis over the next couple of months, and you get be part of the test program as long as you’re willing to shell out around $14—(it’s technically 10 euros). They’re a bit nervous about testing assignments and the attached fee across their whole route network, so it will only be available on a couple routes headed from Dublin until they get more comfortable with it.

The assigned seat option will begin at the middle of this month, and it will available to passengers flying out of Ireland to London-Gatwick as well as Malaga, Spain. There will only be 24 seats available for assignment, and these include those spots right at the front of the plane as well as the exit row.

Ryanair hasn’t really decided how long the test program will last, but they’re thinking that they’ll decide whether to move forward or not within a couple of months.
