Virgin Atlantic Flight Attendants to Strut the Aisles in New Red Shoes

When you think of flight attendant shoes, you don't exactly think sexy, do you? FAs are on their feet more than we can even imagine, trucking their luggage through airport after airport, on moving walkway after moving walkways and up and down airplane aisles for hours on end. Somehow, through most of this, the women manage to wear their heels.

Virgin Atlantic, whose flight attendants are easily spotted in airport thanks to their sharp red uniforms, are switching it up. The uniform by John Rocha, first introduced almost 10 years ago, is swapping the black shoes for a sexier red patent. The reason? Apparently their new ad campaign and commercial, which features red shoes on the FAs, has been so successful that now the public expects the higher level of glam.

Of course this will freshen up the uniform until they can get new ones, a change expected to occur in three years. Mark it on your calendars.

That's not all, though. Virgin has been busy over the weekend with announcements, including the news that they'll begin direct Manchester-to-Vegas flights and the launch of their first Airbus A330 (to be put on the Orlando-Manchester route).

The Manchester-Vegas route comes just in time for the beginning of pool party season in Sin City. The first flight left yesterday, and the flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. We're going to bet that the idea of a long weekend in Vegas will be tempting, so they're putting a 747 on the route.

The new A330, also seeing the Virgin skies this last weekend, will freshen up a classic VA route—between Manchester and Orlando. The lucky ladies serving your drinks onboard are the first to get the new red patent shoes, too, so be sure to throw some compliments their way; breaking in patent leather is never fun.

"Beauty Queen," as the A330 has been christened, will also be flying with the newest onboard entertainment from Panasonic. TVs are touchscreen, with 300 hours of pre-loaded content, and the ability to tap into in-flight WiFi when that feature becomes available later this year. Hot.
