There’s all kinds of new stuff in addition to the baggage tracking feature, as now you can sign up for notifications to get a text or email if for some reason your bags aren’t following the same itinerary that you are. If you want to do things yourself, the tracking page will reveal different baggage statuses including if your bags are on a plane or off a plane. Sounds pretty helpful to us, but what we really want to know is when they’re sitting on the tarmac in the pouring rain.
Knowing a little more information about the baggage handling process actually improves travel (and your stress level), especially in instances where things don’t go according to plan. For those situations, you’ll now be able to go online to submit all the exciting delayed baggage claim documentation.
Hopefully this is an idea that will catch on with plenty of other airlines, so thanks in advance to Delta for starting things off. It looks like they finally took some of those millions in checked baggage fees and put them to good use.
