London is teeming with some of the world's best vintage clothing: Sergeant Pepper-inspired band jackets, dandy suits, '50s petticoat dresses and a wealth of other beautiful wares. These decades-old threads are often priced at a premium, even if their quality doesn't live up to what the sales tag suggests. On a mission to find quality vintage at reasonable prices we stumbled across Soho's Reignwear Vintage: nondescript on the outside, spilling over with gorgeous clothes within.

Within five minutes, we found ourselves ambling toward the fitting room with a Missoni-inspired knit dress, high-waisted leather skirt, khaki shorts playsuit and floral dress with matching jacket, all the while marvelling at how justly priced everything was.

Reignwear is the independent alternative to shopping the high street, where generic and painfully trendy stores abound. If tourists bothered to trek off the beaten path (coughOxfordCircuscough)—and not terribly far from said path, as Soho is just a skip away—they'd realize that Topshop, et al. aren't the only places to drop a buck pound. The boutique's stock is sourced exclusively from Europe and spans the 1930s-1990s; we detected a distinct German and Scandinavian influence in-store on our visit.

Other highlights include covetable pieces by designers like Ossie Clark and Yves St. Laurent, clutch bags galore, spectator heels and this season's popular midi skirts. Next visit, we'll be on the lookout for a classic mac and retro swimwear for summer and anything Lederhosen-esque.
