Travel Channel's New Adrenaline-Pumping TV Show 'Triple Rush' Premieres Tonight

Tonight at 10pm EST, the Travel Channel premieres what it hopes will be its next big, addictive TV show. It's called Triple Rush, and the hour-long episodes document life as a bike messenger in the big city, New York City.

It's basically like the Travel Channel's answer to Discovery's Deadliest Catch, except where the fisherman of Catch face-off against natural forces and risk their lives to bring home the big bucks, Triple Rush depicts those who battle against the manmade obstacles of the city, just to bring in whatever cash they can. Ah, but then there's the adrenaline...

Triple Rush humanizes the messengers, as the series begins with the initiation of a new group of riders, who are warned over and over of the dangers of the job. The pace of the show—and of these people's lives—is supremely fast, like the Big Apple itself. The show actually looks quite good in that, because hopefully the audiences at home will be drawn into the energy with which NYC throbs.

On the other hand, speaking as someone who uses bike messengers (and this company featured, every so often), the preview above is already starting to make us feel guilty. The packages we hand over to bike messengers are not worth them risking their lives, let alone pedaling through the worst weather. But then, we've never put a "triple rush" on any package...
