He did get to participate in a Carnival parade and hang out at a Rio block party, both of which looked fun, even though he hated it. Apparently, Karl didn't realize that Rio would be noisy during Carnival, summing up the city in one sentence: "Great place to live...if you're deaf."
The highlight of the trip for Karl was a helicopter ride above Christ The Redeemer and not because of the amazing view, but because he thought it was an efficient way to get around.
The helicopter ride did look amazing, but it's a little pricey for those of us who don't have our travels paid for by a TV show. An 11-minute ride over Sugar Loaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana Beach starts at $219 in the off-season.
Attending Carnival, which takes place between March 4- March 8, is much more affordable. There are still a few tickets left for the parade starting at $109 and the Marvelous City Ball, starting at $98.
