New Airline on the Block 'LV Air' Looks to Link Vegas and NYC

February 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

So far 2011 seems to be a big year for new airlines to start expanding and announcing new routes. Vision Airlines started the year off with a bang, and now it looks like another carrier is testing the waters. New York-based gamblers are in for a treat, as the brandy new LV Air is looking to link the Big Apple with Sin City sooner rather than later.

The new service will be a regularly scheduled charter operation, and they’re thinking about using some wide body aircraft—that means plenty of seats to and from the two cities. They’re hopeing there’s enough demand to run four flights per day, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s actually the case. Will they be 2011's Jet America? God we hope not.

LV Air isn’t going to cut corners on service offerings, as they’re planning to entertain us in the air on our way to the Strip. Up in the air features include seat-to-seat text messaging, iPads, mood lighting—and best of all/weird—the pre-departure safety briefing will be presented via holographic Las Vegas celebs.

The airline is partnering up with select Vegas hotels, so you’ll be able to order bottle service along with your airline tickets. You’ll also be able to send your luggage straight to your room, so you won’t have to wait around for your suitcase to come rolling off the baggage claim belt.

The website is up and running with a promise of things to come in 2011 along with a little promotional video, but other than that, things seem to be a mystery. We’re all for a new link between JFK and LAS, but we’re just a little bit skeptical that this thing won’t take off the ground let alone succeed long term. Maybe they’ll prove us wrong, but ya, maybe not.
