Boeing Says The 787 is Definitely Getting Delivered Soonish...We'll See

February 10, 2011 at 9:35 AM | by | Comments (0)

A little bit of good news this week in the world of the long delayed Boeing 787, as the company’s CEO has been speaking out about when his composite planes will finally be delivered to the airlines. Jim McNerney—he’s the big cheese at Boeing—said on CNBC that he’s confident that his company is going to finally deliver its first plane in the third quarter of this year.

Sure it’s just another promise, but there’s a lot more riding on it when it comes out of the CEO’s mouth on a network all about business and investing.

Apparently things are so on target that some other airlines are getting excited for their deliveries in 2011. We already know that ANA is anxiously awaiting their very first plane, but it looks like Air India is now counting down the days until they get to see one of the Dreamliner jets in their livery.

Boeing said that Air India should be getting their plane during the fourth quarter of this year, but since the fourth quarter of this year is near the first quarter of next year, we’ll see it when we believe it. We’re thinking the suits at Air India are thinking the same, so don’t except a new route announcement anytime soon—remember what happened to Continental’s plans for New Zealand.
