Yes, You Can Now Buy Elizabeth Taylor's Collection of Louis Vuitton Luggage

While it seems like the jewelry of Elizabeth Taylor goes on show at museums all the time, this round in New York City is different. On display through December 12 and then up for auction until December 17 are $150 million worth of Taylor's luxury items, including jewelry (of course), custom-made designer clothing, gifts from illustrious friends and—our favorite of all—Elizabeth's massive collection of Louis Vuitton luggage.

Christie's will be conducting the historical sale, most of which will be focused on the clothing (like Taylor's wedding dress for her nuptials with Richard Burton), so getting in on the accessories is a sweet bet. Vintage Louis Vuitton trunks are highly sought after, but a variety such as this rarely appears, and depending on interest in individual pieces, could sell for lower prices than it would cost to call up Vuitton and having a new one specially made.

If you'd just like to window shop, the collection is on exhibit at Christie's through the December 12, 2011 and you must purchase tickets to enter. Each adult is $30 and entrances are staggered so that the space doesn't get too crowded, and you have plenty of room to appreciate and get up close to each item. Get those tickets here. After this, much of the inventory will go into private collections perhaps never to be seen again, so just go.
