Just for fun we looked at picking up an Aston Martin DB9—0 to 60 in under five seconds—and we got a quote for £3,890.50. Sounds pretty reasonable to us, but that doesn’t include the £3,500 excess charge which appears to be some kind of mandatory fee. Hilariously there’s even a place on the main booking page to enter a discount code, so if you know of any good ones please let us know. We just doubt that our AAA card is going to put a dent in our rate for the rental car of our dreams.
There are some more "normal" cars—think Mercedes SUVs—that’ll run you less than £150 per day. Hertz Supercars also offers Land Rovers and BMWs, so there are some pretty cool options that won’t force you to sell all your belongings—and those of your friends and family. Although we’re unlikely to participate in a Hertz Supercar rental—pending our Powerball victory—we still like dreaming and having an outlet to do so.
