A 9-Foot-Tall Ronald Reagan Will Watch You Run for Your Flight at DCA

Get ready to wave at—or high-five—former President Ronald Reagan on your way to and from the airport this holiday season.

Reagan National Airport in DC has just added a nine-foot-tall bronze statue outside the entrance to the airport. Just in case you’re not too familiar with presidential history—he wasn’t really that tall. Anyway, this is like the fourth likeness of the former president dedicated this year, as 2011 is the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Since this is Washington, DC of course there’s some political rumblings about the new statue, and if Ronald Reagan should even of had his name added to the airport. We’ll try to stay fair and balance on this issue, but since the name of the airport has already changed—why not add a statue out front? It’s certainly better than adding a Reagan Burger establishment inside the terminal.

So if you want to visit make your way outside Terminal A to check out the $900,000 addition. It’ll be there for quite some time, so no reason to rush.
