Mobile Coupons Are Just One Thing DFW is Gifting Holiday Travelers

If you’re flying through Dallas-Ft. Worth anytime soon—like for the holidays—be sure to keep an eye out for some of the new tech toys that have recently debuted at the airport.

Airport officials have installed some large displays here and there—think of them as gifts—with Microsoft Tag codes slapped right onto the sides. Scan away with your mobile phone, and you’ll be rewarded with coupons and other deals to various restaurants and retailers around the airport. They’re location-based as well, so the airport knows to give you a deal at the nearby Sbarro—not the one that’s like two terminals away.

In addition to the discount distractions the airport has also upgraded some of its maps and directories. In total there are now 11 airport maps that feature touch-screen displays to help you figure out where you’re going, or for you to just screw around with while you’re wasting away your layover.

The displays are based by category, so you can filter on exactly what you’re looking for. Seems like something that should have been around for years at this point—especially at the mall—so it sounds like a plus to us.

It’s nice to see that at least one airport is getting ready for the holiday season with more than just Christmas lights and trees—good work DFW!
