Spain Gets All the Cool Stuff, Like Hertz's Rental Electric Bicycles

This seems crazy, but leave it to Hertz to figure out more ways to rent things that move to travelers when they just don't need cars. We're talking about electric bicycles, which have now entered Hertz's rental fleets in London and—the newest—all over Spain, including Granada, Almería, Alicante, Valencia, Pontevedra, Álava and Barcelona. Even the islands of Mallorca and Formentera haven't been left out; Hertz has brought their nine different types of Swiss Flyer electric bikes off the mainland.

We'd probably most likely use these on an island; it's already on our to-do list now for Palma.

Prices for the bikes begin at 24 Euros per day, and are all set with "Lithium-ion batteries that support travel at up to 25 kilometers an hour (15.5 mph), with a range of 85 kilometers (52 miles)." The focus really is on getting tourists to see the Spanish countryside and seaside and away from the city centers, which would regularly either require a rental car that limits the scenery and route, or a regular bike which limits how far you can travel in just one day, not to mention relying on athletic skill to be pedaling for hours and hours.

The electric bikes open up new paths and new sights to tourists, plus more of them as you're moving faster. The Hertz electric bikes can be booked here. Warning: the site is all in Spanish, so have your Google Translate ready if you need it.

Hello, It seems very well be gradually installing all kinds of electric vehicles, cars, buses, motorcycles, bicycles .. we have to care for the planet and prevent it once and oil. If we want our future families to have a clean world we have to support the shift to renewable energy of all kinds. a pleasure NeyLo2011
