October 18, 2011 at 12:55 PM
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Film Independent, which produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced last week that they were launching the Film Independent at LACMA Film Series. This series will mix classic and contemporary films, conversations with artists, and special guest-curated programs.
The film screenings kick off tomorrow night with Jackie Brown, but the event everyone is talking about is Thursday night's live reading of The Breakfast Club, directed by Jason Reitman. A carefully selected cast, including James Van Der Beek, Mindy Kaling and Patton Oswalt will read the movie's entire scripton the flyin front of a live audience.
Public tickets are $10, tickets for LACMA members and seniors (62+) are $7, and students with valid ID get in for $5. Tickets can be purchased by calling 323-857-6010 or ordering online.
The Breakfast Club reading is sold out, but there will be a stand-by line forming at 6 p.m. at the Hammer Pavilion at LACMA.
