Risky Rollerblading in Paradise

Recently we found ourselves soaking up the sun in Hawaii, but we eventually did tear ourselves away from the beach in order to check out some of the other attractions on Maui.

One thing on our must-do list was driving the Road to Hana. Depending who you ask—or what guidebook you read—this lush and scenic road features 1,000 hairpin curves, twists, and turns along with like a million one lane bridges. Alright, we might be exaggerating, but it’s definitely a beautiful yet slightly tricky drive.

We saw waterfalls, spring fed ponds, and a black sand beach. However, our favorite snapshot is included above. Along the route, someone decided that rollerblading along the highway—via some assistance from the side view mirror of the rental car—was an awesome idea.

We kind of assumed it was only a matter of time before this lady bit it hard on the asphalt, but she navigated a mile or two of the road without too much trouble. Eventually she turned off along with her driver, so we don’t know if the pair called it quits after that. It was definitely a little crazy and slightly dumb, and it's nothing you should do on the Road to Hana, but seeing someone else do it makes it photo-worthy.
