Skechers-Branded Luggage? Really?

If you ask Google "who still wears skechers" the first hit you get is a fashion page entitled "People still wear Skechers?" The second hit goes to ThatsHideous.com, and the post proceeds abouth how you'd expect. We know because we checked. And we checked because we're trying to wrap our minds around the new line of Skechers-branded luggage, to be produced by the same folks who make Tommy Hilfiger luggage, and frankly that was the first question that came to our minds.

You were thinking the exact same thing when you saw the title of this point. Yes you were.

The line will include suitcases, wheeled totes, duffel bags, and garment bags. All of the luggage will have the Skechers logo displayed, presumably somewhere prominent. That's because, according to the press release, "the Skechers logo is one of the most recognized brands in the world." Which isn't exactly a false statement, but - ya know?

Anyway, we're genuinely interested to see where you guys end up on this. On one hand, there are the obvious uses for the gym bags. Halloween comes around every year, and people sometimes need to round out their Mean Girls-era Lilo costumes. On the other hand, there's really no non-ironic way to roll into an airport with a Skechers-branded suitcase, right? Which means that there's not really any chance that these products get traction. Right?

When mulling over your answer, consider that Skechers shares fell a bit right after the announcement. So while there's a sense in which everyone is entitled to their opinion, the answer is "no."
