Plenty of New Routes from Frontier, Wizz Air, and Everyone in Between

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Frontier:
We’re not sure if the warm cookies will be able to make it all the way there, but Frontier Airlines is launching new service to Liberia, Costa Rica this winter. Flights will start on February 13, and the final destination provides decent access to the resorts on the country’s western coast. The flights will come and go once a week from Denver. With plenty of options to other cities from Denver, this is a solid option to visit one of the world’s newest surf and sun hotspots.

· JetBlue:
The newest route from JetBlue won’t be available during this season’s AYCJ fly-athon, but it should be around if there’s another pass available in 2011. JetBlue will start daily nonstop service from Boston-Logan International Airport to Newark starting in May. Continental is the only airline that offers a flight between the two airports, so expect fares to head south quickly. We’re thinking that JetBlue doesn’t want Southwest hogging all the fun at Newark.

· Wizz Air:
Starting in April, low cost carrier Wizz Air is going to set up shop in Belgrade, Serbia. With the new operating base comes new flights, and the airline will start flights to Rome and Malmo, Sweden starting this December. Starting in April of 2011 Stockholm and Eindhoven, Netherlands will become options as well. We’re not sure how much the new flight options will cost, but we expect them to be dirt-cheap.

· Blue1:
Traveling to Scandinavia is on our travel to do list, and a new flight option on Blue1 might just help us out. The airline is based in Helsinki as a regional carrier, and they’re launching a new route from their home airport to Edinburgh, Scotland. Specifics haven’t been worked out just yet, but the flights will start next April and will run twice per week. After London, the Edinburgh Airport has the most options out of the UK and into the Nordic nations, so remember that if you need to pick up your new Volvo from the factory.

· Virgin America:
We discussed this the other day, but we can’t help but mention that Virgin America’s new routes to Mexico have become official. Get your fingers prepared to use all the in-flight entertainment, as nonstop flights between San Francisco and Los Cabos begin December 16. Flights between Los Angeles and Cancun start on January 19, and last but not least, flights between San Francisco and Cancun launch on January 20. There’s some deals available to celebrate the new route confirmation, so get that credit card ready.
