The Famous 'I Heart NY' Logo Officially Teams Up with JetBlue
Last night, on a hotel rooftop overlooking the Hudson River to one side and Midtown Manhattan to the other, New York City's "hometown airline" JetBlue announced a new look for themselves, once that incorporates one of the things closest to their heart: the city itself. JetBlue has become the first company ever to officially co-brand with the iconic "I <3 NY" logo.
The deal comes about as a result of JetBlue's decision to keep their headquarters in New York, after flirting with the possibility of moving south or west. They are currently based out by JFK in Queens, but in March the news was that instead of Orlando, Jetblue would move themselves only one subway stop away from Manhattan, to the Queensboro Plaza area of Queens. Well the city was so happy with this decision, and the resulting retention of over 1,000 jobs for NYC, that they gave JetBlue the opportunity to use "I <3 NY." JetBlue itself is pretty proud of the fact they're the only airline based in New York City, in fact in all of New York state.

Milton Glaser speaks
The logo's original creator, 81-year old Milton Glaser, helped to rework the design to fit JetBlue in, and he appeared last night to give his blessing. The "I <3 NY" we all know and love today actually first appeared back in the 1970s. Over the decades, it's spawned knock-offs too numerous to count, but no official one-offs until today. Expect to see it all over magazines, newspapers, and on your next flight soon.
If you'd like to read more on this co-branding, which we thought quite interesting, there's a great article on it in this month's Fast Company, but you can read it online here.
