Two new food trucks will debut at Tavern on the Green. Pera, whose storefront is Midtown's Pera Mediterranean Brasserie, will be the nation's first Turkish taco truck. It'll create tacos filled with a housemade lamb bacon BLT, Greek salad, and tuna nicoise. Ladle of Love comes from a Westchester restaurant of the same name. Its menu will include seasonal homemade soups and stews, like Harvest Celebration (butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, Granny Smith apples, cream, maple syrup); salads; sandwiches; and its popular fried truffled chickpeas.
The restaurant is undergoing some repairs and renovations, but the outdoor courtyard will be open in time for the food truck feast.
The city is still considering proposals to take over the restaurant, and it hasn't been announced whether having the trucks permanently parked there is an option. You can get your food truck fill from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
