· JetBlue:
It seems like every week brings another new route from JetBlue. This week one of our favorite low cost carriers is announcing a new option between Tampa and San Juan. Sounds pretty familiar, as AirTran is doing the same thing. Expect some cheap options on this route with the increased competition between the two budget carriers. JetBlue’s flights will begin next May, and a second daily flight will begin in June.
· Alaska Airlines:
San Jose is getting a new option in and out of its newly remolded airport, but just be sure to bring something to over your nose. Alaska Airlines is starting service to Guadalajara, Mexico, as long as Uncle Sam is cool with it. If all goes according to plan the new flights will begin just before Christmas, and they will operate every day of the week. However, there will be two different timing options depending on the day of the week you choose to depart.
· Jetstar: [Photos: PhillipC & Jaunted]
Things are getting cheaper down under, as Jetstar is adding almost 40 additional flights in and around New Zealand starting next February. The competition between Jetstar and Air New Zealand should help fares head south fairly quickly. The low cost carrier is sending more planes to New Zealand, and these aircraft should boost service in and out of Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown. Domestic routes should start around just $20 each way.
