St. Bernard Project was established to create housing opportunities so that Hurricane Katrina survivors can return to their homes and communities. As of July, more than 23,000 volunteers have already helped St. Bernard Project rebuild 290 families' homes, but more help is still needed. The work volunteers are doing for the project is sometimes difficult and includes hanging insulation, spackling, sanding, priming, painting, and laying floors, but it is always rewarding knowing you helped someone return to their home.
For more information about becoming a volunteer for the St. Bernard Project, check out the Volunteer Arrival Packet which provides housing suggestions, information about you will need to bring and what you can expect to find at the job site. You can register to volunteer at Stbernard.civicore.com.
