For one, Delta will add "Tagliare," a pizzeria to offer above and beyond the usual airport pizza options—we're looking at you Sbarro. The family behind DiFara Pizza in Brooklyn plans to bring authentic NY slices to locals and tourists preparing for departure.
If you need a little bit of pre-flight fish you’ll want to head to the new seafood restaurant—Minnow. Developed by Andrew Carmellini, the place will feature plenty of wine and beer choices to go along with chowders, salads, and sandwiches filled with the tasty stuff from under the sea.
We’re slightly disappointed that Delta couldn’t bring Danny Meyer and the Shake Shack empire into their main terminal, but we think we’ll be fine with what they have planned. Pat LaFrieda Burger will bring airport fast food to the next level; expect original toppings and combinations as well as the traditional lettuce, tomato, and onion. Thankfully there will be milkshakes as well to wash everything down.
Some of the new food and beverage destinations will be housed within a gourmet food hall, including a Jewish deli with matzo ball soup and knishes to warm anyone up during a long winter weather delay. To top everything off there will be a new wine bar as well as a non-Starbucks place to grab a cup of coffee.
The total makeover will open bit by bit, and the first signs of the future should be ready by the end of August; however, the whole thing won’t be done until the end of next summer. Check out the press release to get the full rundown of all the new eats.
