NetJets Hooks Up Private Planes with High Speed In-Flight WiFi

The crusade for in-flight wifi claims another victory as major private jets provider NetJets announces that they will equip 250 planes in their fleet with high-speed internet from Aircell.

Although this doesn't affect a vast majority of travelers, it does however mean that businessmen, politicians and Kanye West—when he calls up another "BABYMAMAJET"—will be able to tweet, blog, and yea do other online business stuff while at 30,000 feet. We can hear Kanye loading up his blog and hitting the caps lock key already.

Private jet rentals from NetJets are on the pricey side, so you can bet that for the serious money they lay out, that their clients would expect some fast internet speed and minimal connection issues. No pay-by-the-hour here; it isn't the Gogo service on commercial passenger planes, it's a new high-speed in-flight WiFi specifically for business jets. Passengers can request to be their pilot's Facebook friend while still flying in his plane.

Now let us suggest the next move for private jet companies: include an iPad or two in each airplane for passenger use. That's really what'd go awesome with in-flight wifi, especially when we're talking about CEOs and record producers and whatnot who are typically on the cusp of "what's next" and would appreciate this.

Netjets is actually a major lagger

Netjets is way behind in this area. Their competitors such as XOJET & Clay Lacy have been doing this for a while now, in fact XOJET has its entire fleet enabled with Internet & Wi-Fi already.

A private aircraft charter provides a great deal of convenience. Even with extremely short notice, we can use private charters for important business meeting, traveling in vacations, or any other purpose. For major airlines, we typically need to reserve our seat weeks or months in advance.
