The Next 'Survivor' Secret Location Revealed: Nicaragua

Even though CBS was trying to keep the exact location of Survivor: Nicaragua a secret, the cat's out of the bag. The cast and crew of the next Survivor are currently staying in the southern Nicaragua beach town of San Juan del Sur where, to the dismay of locals, they have taken over the best beaches for production.

CBS has said that they chose Nicaragua for "the country's natural beauty and the high level of support from the government." The support comes in exchange for the hope that Survivor will be good for tourism (despite the fact that CBS calls it a land of "impenetrable terrain, smoldering volcanoes and savage wildlife").

In recent years, luxury hotels and mansions have been popping up around the laid-back fishing village of San Juan del Sur, which may be the real reason CBS wanted it as its next Survivor locale. While the show's contestants are living on a beach with little food and less shelter, the show's crew is said to have rented out the luxurious Pelican Eyes Resort.

The Pelican Eyes is a surrounded by infinity pools, ocean views and lush gardens. They're also dedicated to the conservation of local wildlife and donate a significant amount of money to local wildlife foundations. Currently, the Pelican Eyes Resort is offering a special deal that includes breakfast daily, a spa day, and accommodations in a cabana for three nights starting at $320 per night.
