Only the Foursquare contest really requires you to go to the Zoo this week. Whoever is mayor of the Giant Panda Research by Saturday at 10am "will win a fun panda prize." And before you worry that someone just racked up check-ins a month ago and is going to sit on their mayorship, let us assure you that it's thoroughly up for grabs. Just changed this morning in fact. Along with all of the other cute contests, it seems like anyone can win.
The Flickr contest is open to anyone who wants to upload interesting or funny panda-related pictures to the Zoo's Flickr pool, with pictures of people dressed up as pandas being totally in-bounds. Winners will get highlighted in a special Panda Week slideshow. The same photo contest is being held on Facebook, and you can also tweet submissions to @SanDiegoZoo. The Facebook page itself will also play host to a Panda Week livechat with keepers and a poetry contest.
Speaking of @SanDiegoZoo, the Twitter contest is particularly interesting. The Zoo is trying to hold a "tweet-up," where they'll tweet a secret location and password telling people where to meet up. Anyone who shows up gets a gift, and the first 20 people get additional prizes.
UPDATE: Make sure you check out the comment below from Zoo rep Dani Dodge. Tweet-up gifts are limited - probably a good idea since @SanDiegoZoo has over 4,500 followers - so if you want a special gift make sure you're one of the first 20 to arrive at the secret location!
