Kids Get an Airline Lounge of Their Own at Paris-Orly

Sometimes we wish that we were still flying as unaccompanied minors. Think about it—kids usually get to board the plane first, get extra snacks and soda, and they might even score a junior set of wings. The one place little ones aren't allowed by themselves are airline lounges, but now there’s a special lounge just for those traveling without mom and dad.

Air France has set up a new private lounge for those with connections over an hour at Paris-Orly airport. Kids will get to play, chill out and read, or participate in naptime. Children nowadays definitely have some high-tech gadgets, so let’s just hope the lounge staff know how to get their iPod Touch to connect to WiFi. There will also be plenty of DVDs available to watch on flat-screen TVs, and we're assuming snacks like complimentary milk, cookies, and juice.

The new place is located in Hall 2 of the West Terminal, and it welcomes unaccompanied minors between the ages of 4 and 17. Sorry grownups—you’ll need to snag a seat outside your departure gate like the rest of us. Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport also has a lounge located near Terminal 2E for those with connections greater than 2 hours, but it’s only temporary for the summer travel season.

Well over 300,000 little adults travel on Air France each and every year, and as long as they are at least two years old they are welcome to sign up for the airline’s frequent flyer program. It’s a little sad that there’s definitely plenty of kids with better frequent flyer status and better lounge access than we have, but we say more power to them.
