Foursquare's in the Air With New 'Mile High' Badge for In-Flight WiFi

Are you on Foursquare yet? The location-based social network that lets you "check in" to places you go from your phone for points and "badges" is growing like wildfire, and we're huge proponents of it. Actually, you can be our friend on Foursquare here to see tips we've left at our favorite places around the globe.

While you're hopping around and checking in, you can now earn what we think may just be the coolest Foursquare badge yet. It was announced today that Gogo, the biggest provider of in-flight internet (used on airlines like Delta, American, AirTran and Virgin America) has teamed up with Foursquare to create the "Mile High Badge."

To earn the "Mile High Badge" (pictured above), you've got to be on Gogo in-flight internet on onboard a Gogo-equipped airplane. Check into Foursquare from the plane and you're golden! We're just not sure if you have to check into the specific airplane by tail number of what, but we're sure we'll find out soon enough when we next fly and claim the badge for ourselves. Looks like we'll have to add it to our always-updated list of place-specific Foursquare badges.

What other travel badges do you think Foursquare should create?

what would be even better

is if Gogo offered badge winners a $5 discount on their next inflight wifi service. JUST saying.

ok, i didn't mean to say "winners"

since anyone can get the badge when they check-in but at this point, i'm starting to get impatient with foursquare. so you rack up all sorts of badges, then what?
