The three-day festival pays homage to the giant garlic by requiring vendors to have at least one menu item that features elephant garlic as an ingredient. You'll get a chance to imbibe garlic wine and garlic weizen beer and eat garlic ice cream, garlic Italian ice, garlic kettle corn, garlic biscuits and gravy, elephant garlic burgers and waffle fries with elephant garlic aioli.
The 13th annual festival kicks off with a parade and crowning of a "smelly king and queen," which doesn't sound like much of an honor. In typical fest fashion, there also will be live music, arts and crafts, children's activities and a car show.
The festival is free, though we recommend you go buy yourself some gum in case you get a chance to meet the smelly king and want to hit it off well.
