Spirit Airlines Makes a Good Move by Giving Their Pilots More Money
It looks like we’ll be enjoying some more excellent marketing campaigns (*sarcasm) through 2015, as Spirit Airlines has signed its pilots up for a new five-year deal. You may remember that the cheap fares were grounded earlier this year as the people who know how to fly the planes walked off the job, but it looks like everyone has kissed and made up.
Union representatives indicate that the pilots got a substantial pay raise, and captains will be getting about 10 percent more cash in their paychecks. First officers are also expected to get a boost of 18 percent to their hourly wages, and the entire pilot group is now eligible for a signing bonus.
In total, almost three quarters of the pilot group voted in favor of the new deal, so we’ll assume it’s pretty sweet compared to what they previously had. Now that Spirit’s labor issues have been resolved, we can focus on the next airline with contract drama. We’re looking at you British Airways...
