Toronto is a great city, but like any city, it’s even better with lots of beer. That’s why we’re eager to check out this year’s Festival of Beers. Montreal had their own party dedicated to the sudsy stuff earlier this year, but it looks like Toronto wants to solidify its position as the place to party.

This year’s festival runs August 5-8, so that’s just less than two weeks until the taps start flowing. Tickets to this year’s party at Bandshell Park at Exhibition Place are actually less cash than last year, and they will set you back as little as $37—a couple bucks more if you’re cashing in loonies and toonies. Your admission costs will get you five sample tokens, a souvenir sampling cup, and a guide to all the beers. You’ll have six hours to soak it all in, and an extra five samples will cost you around $10.

The Fest will even feature more than just local Canadian brews. If you get sick of lagers and ales, there will be plenty of non-malt based drinks as well including several hard ciders. We’re especially intrigued by the offerings of Nickel Brook, as we’ve never sampled an organic lager. Although we’re not the biggest fans of fruity beer, we kind of want to sample a little bit of the Green Apple Pilsner or the Special Edition Uniek Sour Cherry Ale—it’s fermented with cherries from Ontario and aged in oak.

When you get sick of drinking there’s plenty of entertainment as well. Bands will be doing their thing on the Main Stage to entertain the expected 30,000 hopheads, and the Grilling Tent will host food demonstrations on how to get those picture perfect grill marks. There’s even a Brand Experience Area where you can score swag from all the big breweries while they try to convince you that you should only buy their product. We can’t wait to complete our Molson coozie collection!
