Las Vegas Airport May Get Exactly What It Needs: A Liquor Store

When it comes to Las Vegas, it’s hard to know what exactly will make it big and what will fail, but we’d definitely vote one of the city’s newest business ideas as most likely to succeed. McCarran International Airport is getting ready to welcome a brand new store to its terminal—a liquor store.

No need to stop anywhere en route to your room, because now the hard stuff will be available just steps from the baggage claim area. We’re sure you’ll pay a slight premium for this convenience, but we’re also positive that won’t slow down most people from filling up the cart and swiping the plastic.

Government officials in Clark County have been reviewing proposals from different companies for the right to sell booze at the airport. They looked at different criteria and assigned a score to each proposal, and it looks like Lee’s Runway Liquor put together the best PowerPoint presentation. Some other county officials will make the final selection about tequila in the terminal, but Lee’s has to be pretty excited.

It’s not a done deal just yet, but the airport wants to put the store right by the escalators that lead to the D gates near the baggage claim area. There’s even a thought that the store would offer delivery to your hotel room. We’ll let you know when and if this place opens, and how long the line will be.
