AutoSlash.com May Be the Next Big Thing in Rental Car Reservations

Booking travel has become crazy easy thanks to all the options out there now, but sometimes it can still be a little overwhelming. Adding to the mix is a new site—Autoslash—that hopes to simplify the car rental experience. We took it for a quick ride around the block to see if we should skip the competition for our future rental wreck needs.

The site does a great job of searching major rental car companies, but it also checks out some of the lesser-known guys as well. Advantage and Payless make appearances on some searches—where available of course—but it’s up to you if you want to test out a less well-known company. Saving a few bucks is great, but it’s nice to know that Hertz and Avis have loads of cash and loads of cars in case you get stuck without wheels.

All the usual options are present, so you can choose that convertible or sub-compact, and the interface is friendly and simple. On our theoretical trip to Orlando next week we were able to find rental cars for the week for less than $100—before taxes—with Payless. However, the magic begins after you book, because Autoslash will scour all the internets in search of a better deal. If they find one they pass along the savings to you and send an email inviting you to rebook. They’ll even direct you to a different site if they can’t match a better deal. Aww, that’s so sweet.

Autoslash also automatically applies coupons to find the best deal, so you don’t have to randomly search and apply coupons to save some green. We played around with the site for a bit, imagining all kinds of road trips and rental runs, and we were impressed. We’re not totally set on using this every time, but we’re definitely adding it to our arsenal of personal online booking tools—and you should too.
