But you're likely going to gorge on the offerings from the endless food vendors. Chicago favorite Harold’s Chicken will serve wings and hush puppies while Vienna Beef/Gold Coast Dog will hawk Chicago-style dogs. Stop by the popular Garrett Popcorn booth for a popcornsicle, caramel corn flash frozen on a stick. For a refreshing treat, fest mainstay Original Rainbow Cone will scoop out its trademark colorful stacks of ice cream.
As far as entertainment—which is all free—there's lots of old-school hip-hop on tap: Rob Base, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Bell Biv Devoe and Salt-n-Pepa will push it real good. Trey Songz will offer some new-school hip-hop. Gavin Rossdale and Rob Thomas also will headline.
Admission is free, but to chow down you'll have to buy food and drink tickets. Purchase strips of 12 tickets for $8. That doesn't seem like a lot, but be forewarned that you'll end up spending quite a bit to feast at the fest, since small "taste" portions alone can cost up to four tickets.
