A Complete Packing List for the Fourth of July Long Weekend

Going away next weekend? Perhaps on one of these last-minute Fourth of July escapes? Since the goal of the Fourth of July is just to relax and enjoy the balmy temperatures and lazy nights of summer, our biggest advice to you is not to overpack.

We fancy ourselves quite the expert packers; two weeks in Hong Kong on a single carry-on suitcase is de rigeur for us, and so we'd thought we'd share our own packing list for next weekend—with a few revisions allowing for your flexibility, of course...

The Complete Fourth of July Long Weekend Packing List:

Clothing:
· One patriotic top, either just in red, white or blue or sporting a cheesy flag screenprint
· 2 other tops of lightweight, breathable materials like 100% cotton or in seersucker or linen
· 1 swimsuit
· 1 swimsuit cover-up for women
· 2 pairs of flip-flops
· 1 pair of boat shoes or other easy canvas slip-on
· Several pair of cotton underwear/bras for breathability
· 1 pair of socks, just in case

Gadgets:
· Phone + charger
· Camera + charger
· Any other Flip video cameras or you laptop + charger
· Cigarette lighter (if you're driving and there is a chance of fireworks)
· Your iPad/Kindle/Nook + charger

Toiletries:
· Good deodorant
· Toothbrush and travel-size toothpaste
· Floss, if you think you'll be eating corn on the cob
· Hairbrush
· Sunscreen
· Face moisturizer and chapstick, because the sun will make you want these badly
· Band-aids

Toys:
· 1 frisbee
· 1 collapsible badminton set, if you're driving (because badminton is awesome)
· 1 beach towel, even if you're not going to the beach so you can sit on it
· 1 Summer Reading Book

Did we forget anything? Would you add something to the list? Let us know in the comments!
